There is still so much work to be done in New Orleans’ and in the Lower 9th Ward: overgrown lots; still-vacant buildings in need of ceiling, wall or window repair; and hundreds of residences where a fresh coat of paint can help to make them home again. CSED volunteers have tackled so many jobs, big and small, to make a difference. New steps or a wheelchair ramp for disabled residents. A garden shed for a restored community garden. And Interior finishes to bring a neighborhood church back to life. That’s not all: CSED also works on playgrounds, community centers and other green spaces like our ongoing efforts to restore Bayou Bienvenue.
As more and more Lower 9 residents return, their need for some assistance continues.
